Message from the Chair

Over a century ago, members of Chicago’s Norwegian-American community, founded the Norwegian Old People’s Home. In 1896, the Norwood Park Hotel, located in Norwood Park area of Chicago, to provide a place for the elderly to age in comfort and dignity. As the Norwegian Old People’s Home evolved, so did its place in the
neighborhood and eventually became known as Norwood Crossing. Norwood has always operated as a not-for-profit, channeling resources back to our residents.

Norwood Crossing became one of the first Continuing Care Retirement Communities, offering a broad array of services and facilities dedicated to serving seniors and their families. Building on this 130 year tradition of providing service, today Norwood has adopted a broader and more ambitious vision: to create a model of care that serves the needs of seniors in venues and levels of care that encompass communities across our country.

We believe that the experience and unique skills that Norwood Life Association brings together, including a Board with over 100 years of accomplished and dedicated service, in communities all across the United States, working with local communities, urban, rural, suburban, has uniquely prepared us for our mission of care and service.

We are committed to our mission, vision & values
